Otis L. Chapman Dies Suddenly; Rites Tuesday
Otis L. Chapman, 80, while under the care of a physician and over the
holiday apparently in favorable health, died unexpectedly of a heart attack
yesterday at 9 at the Chapman home north of Marseilles. His wife was with
him at the time.
Final rites will be conducted at 2 Tuesday at Seals chapel. The Rev. Kermit
Long, Methodist church pastor, will be in charge. Burial will be in
Riverview cemetery. The body will remain at Seals until time of the
services.
The youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Chapman, who pioneered to this
locality from New York state in 1856, the deceased was born in Miller
township Oct. 29, 1863.
The farm on which his parents settled, known as the Hiram Chapman homestead,
is occupied by the deceased's son, Oscar Chapman.
Otis L. Chapman Rites Yesterday afternoon
Final rites were conducted yesterday afternoon at Seals Chapel for Otis L.
Chapman, 80, widely known Miller, township farmer who died Sunday of a heart
attack at his home. The Rev. Kermit Long officiated. Internment was in
Riverview cemetery.
Pallbearers were C. C. Parr, Howard Olmstead, Walter Long, Peter Mitchell,
George Barber and Wilbur Loring.
The deceased was the father of William Chapman, Hiram W. Chapman and Oscar
R. Chapman, all of near Marseilles, and Mrs. Della C. Wheeler of Wyanet. He
also is survived by his widow.
