DIED FRIDAY NIGHT
One of the Oldest Residents of LaSalle County DeadDied, at his home in Millington, Friday evening, Joseph Jackson, aged 72 years and 2 months.
Mr. Jackson was born near Brownsville, Pa., and in 1836 emigrated to Illinois, locating with his father's family at Ottawa. They came via the Ohio, Mississippi and Illinois rivers by steamer.
He located later at Milford, now Millington, which was his home ever since. He was largely instrumental in building the Fox river branch of the Burlington. He was identified with many of the industries of the county, but confined the most of his active work to railroad building.
He was twice married. His first wife was Miss Mary E. Lewis, of Elmira, N.Y., to whom he was married in 1851 at Newark. His second wife was Miss Barbara Trumbo, whom he married in 1855 and who survives him. His two sons, Lewis B. Jackson, by his first wife, and Edwin W. Jackson by his second, city engineer and assistant, of Chicago, also
survives.The funeral occurred at Millington at 1 o'clock Monday afternoon.
