I am seeking the names and vital statistics on the family of John Hossack and Martha Lens Hossack of Ottawa. He was an active abolitionist born in Scotland in 1806. He came first to Canada and then to Chicago and later to Ottawa. He died aournd 1890. There were eleven children who lived to adulthood, reportedly an unusual circumstance in that time. Supposedly his home overlooking the river was used as a station on the Underground Railroad.

I visited LaSalle Genealogy Guild last November, and found a wealth of information and enthusiastic helpful people. I found a relative I was searching for, William H. Charley, but didn't look for his wife, Mary A. Davern. I have a copy of their marriage certificate, dated Sep. 18, 1882. It states that Mary A. Davern is from LaSalle County. I would like a bit more information on her if someone has access to census records. I have William on the 1880 census, age 18, just before he married. Thank you for any input!! Sincerely, Eileen Bower

Seek information on my g-g-g-grandfather John Clark. The information I have on him is as follows:The Franklin Co., KY (City of Frnakfort) 1850 census lists:Clark, John, tailor, age 40, born VA Mary, age 34, born KY Alice, age 14, born KY Catherine, age 13, born KY Henriette, age 10, born KY Margaret, age 8, born KY Virginia, age 6, born KY John, age 5, born KY Henry, age 3, born KYAlice (my g-g-grandmother) married John Tutt in Frankfort on Feb 14, 1855. Mary Clark (Alice's mother died about 1857). The 1860 Census of Cheney's Grove, McLean County, had John and Alice Tutt as followsTutt, John, master carpenter, age 29, born KY Alice, age 24, born KY John B., age 2 Ida A., age 6 monthsClark, John, age 44, born VA John Tutt was a 1st lieutenant in the 116th Illinois Volunteer Infantry and died 26 January 1863. On 20 Dec. 1863, Alice married John Ivins at St Matthew's Episcopal Church in Bloomington. The 1880 Census, McLean County, City of Bloomington shows:Ross, Alexander, pumpdealer, age 46 Margaret, age 37 William, age 15, born IL Mary Elinore, age 6, born IL Jacob, age 4, born IL Howard, age 1, born IL Virginia Gertrude, age 1, born ILClark, John, widowed, age 63, born VAMargaret was a daughter of John Clark. Surnames: RABBITT TOLE WOOD? RABITT CARTER
Submitter: Taleah Rose Wilkinson (TaleahW@yahoo.com)
Date: 15 Jan 1999

Jan. 15, 1999Friday I'm looking for info. on Ethel Rose Carter born Nov. 26, 1881 in Grand Ridge, LaSalle County, Ill. and was married to John Rabbitt/Rabbit on May 11, 1903 in Ottawa, LaSalle county, Ill. Ethel Rose was the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Tole Carter, she was one of 8 children according to her obit. John Rabbitt/Rabbit had at least one brother who was in Ill. at the time John and Ethel Rose married. John was a sliversmith by trade while living in Il., this I know for sure as we did have a tea set that he made. His brother was a glass blower by trade, we had a glass chain that he had made for John and Ethel Rose until the early 1960's when his daughter came to visit my Grandmother her in Dade County, Mo. If I remember right either John's brother was either to ill to make the trip, or he had just passed away, so only his daughter came. My Grandmother told me that they had moved to Chiago, Il. sometime after John and Ethel Rose left LaSalle County and moved to Iowa. Ethel Rose's Carter Grand parents was from Kentucky, as I remember that she told me of what along trip it was by wagon to visit them every summer. My father and I have argued this fact he thought Ethel Rose was from Kentucky because she used to talk about summers in Kentucky. However I'm postive on the info, that I have on her birth in Il., as my Grandmother's sister had the family bible, and she wrote up the obit that was in a Iowa newspaper and gave it to me for safe keeping. I am willing to pay for any paper work that has to be done as I know how much time and paper work there can be on a search as that is what I do in my spare time, for the rootsweb Dade County, Missouri. I know that one of Ethel Roses' brother was named Wood, as she used to speak of him, and another was Earl he used to visit the family here in Dade County, Mo. Thank You Taleah Wilkinson
